HVAC filters

Replace on a cadence (more often in heavy-pollen spring and peak cooling). Note each return's size (e.g. 20x25x1) and MERV. MERV 8–11 balances airflow and filtration for most homes.

Smoke / CO detectors

Test monthly; replace batteries on a fixed cadence (or use 10-yr sealed units). Replace the whole alarm every 10 years.

Water

Replace fridge/inline water filters per manufacturer (commonly every 6 months). Flush the water heater annually.
